Some of Grant's cases:

Road Traffic accident cases

W v B
This was a claim in which our client sustained significant injuries in a road traffic accident, our client being on a motorbike and the Defendant being in a car which came round on the wrong side of the road.  As a result of the injuries sustained, our client was paralysed in the right upper part of his body.

The claim was unsuccessful at first instance, with the Court deciding that it was our client rather than the Defendant who was on the wrong side of the road, but this decision was reversed by the Court of Appeal and our client succeeded in the case and recovered substantial compensation.

Some time after the case concluded Grant was asked to and became Godfather to our clients son, who was named after him.

D v M
Our client sustained injuries in a road traffic accident when his vehicle was hit from behind.  During the case treatment was organized for our client and he received treatment at a residential course.

The case then went on to the Court of Appeal where our client obtained substantial compensation.

J v G M
In this case our client was injured in a road traffic accident.  As a result of the legal case treatment was arranged for him and he received successful treatment allowing him to return to his normal life and return to work.

Our client also went on to obtain substantial compensation.

Accidents at Work

S v N
In this case our client was delivering to a construction site and sustained injuries whilst carrying an item into a property under construction.

The case was successful at Trial but then went onto the Court of Appeal to deal with an issue with regard to the employers liability and has become one of the leading cases on the liability of employers to employees in accident at work cases.

H v P
This is a case in which a tree surgeon was in a tree working with a chainsaw.  Unfortunately the chainsaw came into contact with the supporting rope, cutting through it, causing our client to fall to the ground sustaining significant injuries.

There was a dispute by the Defendants insurance company as to whether the insurance company had any responsibility, but this was eventually resolved and the Defendants insurance company accepted that they had to provide insurance cover.

The case then proceeded through the Courts with the Claimant succeeding in showing that the Defendant was partially responsible for the accident occurring and as a result the Claimant recovered compensation.

J v F T
In this case our client, as part of his employment, was required to lift what was a very heavy weight causing him a serious back injury.  The Defendants fought the case but eventually, at Trial, settled the liability issue and then ultimately paid substantial compensation.

S v A C D L
In this case our client brought proceedings for injuries sustained by him as a result of inhaling substances which damaged his lungs.  The case involved a pulmonary physiologist as well as a Consultant Psychologist.

The case was ultimately successful with the Claimant recovering compensation.

H v L M
In this case our client was at work and sustained a cutting injury.  This led to significant problems but as a result of the case our client received treatment which was successful and allowed our client to return to employment, after being off work for some years.

Our client also received substantial compensation as a result of the injuries sustained.

Clinical Negligence

P v B
This was a very complicated medical negligence (clinical negligence) case in which the Claimant sought treatment from his GP but was not properly referred leading to the development of a serious condition which left him significantly disabled.

The case was described by the Queens Counsel within the case as one of the most complicated medical negligence cases he had ever come across.

The case was settled successfully before Trial for substantial compensation.

RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury)

S v F

This was a case in which our client worked for the Defendant Company and as a result of the work that she was undertaking, developed a repetitive strain injury.

The Defendants denied liability and it was necessary to have Consulting Forensic Engineers and Consultant Rheumatologists to give evidence within the case, with the case then being successful and our client recovering compensation.

Occupiers Liability

W v P O

Our client sustained injuries as a result of a trip in a Post Office as a result of a defective step.  Our client moved to Egypt to be with her daughters and we kept in contact with her, and conducted the case, by way of telephone, email and letter.

The case was dealt with successfully and our client received compensation, which was then sent to her in Egypt.

Professional Negligence

H and V

In this case our clients were injured in a road traffic accident.  Our clients instructed a firm of Solicitors to act on their behalf.  However the Solicitors did not progress the case and in fact missed the three year limitation period.  As a result Grant took over the cases for our clients and brought legal proceedings against the Solicitors in negligence.

The case against the Solicitors was successful and both clients recovered compensation.

Ministry of Defence

W v M o D

In this case our client was a Royal Marine who, under instruction, during an exercise, was required to jump from a Helicopter.  Unfortunately the helicopter was far too high with the result that our client landed very heavily sustaining serious injuries to both ankles.

Legal proceedings were brought against the Ministry of Defence and our client was medically retired from the Royal Marines.

Our client retrained for a new career and obtained that new career.

The case went on to be successful and our client obtained substantial compensation against the Ministry of Defence.

(NB: The names of cases have been abbreviated due to client confidentiality.)
