Road Traffic Accident - Deaf Person

Ms S

Represented by Amie Pinnell

The client in this case was involved in a road traffic accident. The client worked as a postal service worker, and had a severe hearing impairment. Whilst delivering the post on the day of the accident she walked out of a driveway and into a lane. The defendant was reversing his car down the lane. Our client tried to move out of the defendant’s way but he did not see her and he ran over the claimant’s foot. The defendant denied liability in the case.

Due to the client’s hearing disability, we arranged to visit her at home to discuss important matters relating to her case and to gather evidence on several occasions. We were successful in the court case of this matter and arranged for a lip reader to attend to assist our client.

The claimant suffered injuries to her foot and elbow. She required 2 operations on her big toe, one of which we secured payment for the client to have done privately from the Defendants. The claimant was awarded a five figure sum in compensation.
