Serious Injury Case Studies
Road Traffic Accident
Our client, a pedestrian, suffered serious head injuries and remained in a coma for several weeks after being hit by a car.
Because our client suffered from extensive amnesia following the accident he could not recall the accident or indeed even the most basic details of his life before the accident. We therefore had to piece together both the circumstances of the accident and information about our client’s lifestyle prior to the accident. This detailed information became even more essential when the driver of the car denied liability, claiming that our client had walked out directly in front of his car.
We organized for a forensic enquiry into the vehicle’s speed, road conditions and the driver’s reaction times along with a detailed examination of police and witness statements. We also hired a private investigator to find out about our client’s lifestyle prior to the accident so that we could draw a comparison to his lifestyle prior to the accident. This then enabled us to calculate past and future loss of earnings.
The very serious nature of our client’s illness left him partially immobile, reliant on nursing care and depressed. We arranged for various medical experts to report on the exact nature of his injuries and illness so that we could quickly establish what physical and emotional rehabilitation, nursing care and housing our client would need in order to be able to lead as normal a life as possible.
Our work on behalf of our client resulted in a settlement in excess of £800,000.
