Hand Injury Whilst Taking Out Rubbish

Our client worked in a pub as a cleaner. At end of a shift, she suffered an injury whilst taking rubbish out to the bins. She lifted the lid of the main bin and then with both hands grabbed onto the top of the bin liner and lifted it up to place it into the bin. As she did so she let go of the bag and it brushed on her hands as it fell down into the bin. She immediately felt a sharp stinging sensation on the middle finger of her left hand. Initially it only felt like a pain similar to a bee sting. She looked down at her hand and saw that the middle finger was bleeding very badly. She sustained cuts to the tendons in the finger which required two operations. We obtained a four figure sum in compensation for the client.
