Examination

During your case we will arrange for you to see a medical expert who specialises in the type of injury you have suffered.

The Consultant specialist will  produce a report upon which we will base your claim for compensation.  The report will describe the extent of your injuries, your recovery and rehabilitation, and the ongoing health problems that you may have as a result of your accident.  This report will form part of the evidence for your claim, and will have a bearing on the level of compensation that you receive.

The Specialist may also recommend a course of treatment, such as physiotherapy, and we will liaise with you with regard to treatment.

Normally, this appointment will take place between 3 and 6 months after your accident.  This is to allow enough time to elapse for the specialist to properly assess how well you have recovered from your injuries.  For very serious injuries it may be necessary to defer the medical examination even longer, until such time as you are on the road to recovery, and the long term prognosis is more clearly defined.

It can be frustrating to endure a long legal process.  However, it is far better to hold out for a fair level of compensation rather than rush into a quick settlement that may not be in your best interests.  It may be possible to obtain interim payments from the defendant's insurers when claims take a long time to resolve.
